The Infection Control and Prevention Program (ICPP) serves the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). AUBMC is a private, nonprofit teaching center of the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. The Center consists of 388-beds and provides medical, surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecological and psychiatric services. AUBMC offers comprehensive healthcare services, extensive tertiary/quaternary resources, medical, nursing and paramedical training.
The program provides guidance, recommendation and services to the AUBMC community.
The ultimate goal of ICPP program is to reduce the acquisition and transmission of infection. This is achieved by systematically identifying infection risks and responding appropriately to them, and designing preventative strategies.
The purpose of the Infection Control and Prevention Program is to control and prevent the transmission of Infectious Diseases within the hospital environment. The goal of this program is to maintain the safest possible environment for patients, visitors and employees.
This program functions in conjunction with and under direction from the Infection Control Committee, which is a committee of the Medical Board.
