On May 8, 2015, members of the Mufarrij family joined the AUBMC community to inaugurate the Dr. Ibrahim K. Mufarrij Suite in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The suite, a state-of-the-art post-partum recovery room, is located on the seventh floor of the main Medical Center building. Through the Mufarrij family’s philanthropy, patients will benefit from the highest-quality of patient care which AUBMC is dedicated to provide.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Vice President and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Ziyad Ghazzal, representing Vice President of Medical Affairs and Raja N. Khuri Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at AUB, Dr. Mohamad Sayegh, Chief of Staff, Dr. Hassan El- Solh, Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Anwar Nassar, members of AUBMC leadership, faculty, and staff. Dr. Nassar welcomed guests to the official opening of the renovated suite and lauded the family for their generous contribution.
By honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Ibrahim Mufarrij, the family is also perpetuating Dr. Mufarrij’s trust in this institution and supporting the AUBMC 2020 Vision.
Born in 1919, Dr. Mufarrij obtained his BA in General Sciences (’42) and his MD (’48) from AUB. “Throughout his career, his dedication to women’s health touched countless lives and inspired the careers of many physicians in Lebanon and the region,” said Dr. Nassar.
Dr. Ali Khalil, one of Dr. Mufarrij’s former students and a close friend, spoke of Dr. Mufarrij’s enduring commitment to his students and his devotion to his family—his wife Maha, and his four children, Nabil, Faysal, Ziad-Antoine, and Lana.
