The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) announced today that the Nursing Services Clinical and Professional Development Center (CPDC) has been accredited as a Provider Unit for Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. The CPDC received its accreditation with distinction, the highest recognition awarded by ANCC.
Accreditation with distinction is granted to organizations that show excellence in the curriculum design and delivery of continuing nursing education without any progress report requirements. The Nursing Services at AUBMC have diligently worked to meet comprehensive, evidenced-based criteria and ensure CNE activities are effectively planned, implemented and evaluated. Nurses at AUBMC, in Lebanon and the region will continue to have access to the highest caliber of education that will contribute to improved healthcare outcomes.
“Accomplishments and achievements by AUBMC Nursing Services are landmarks we got accustomed to. Whether it is an accreditation, reaccreditation or performance at international standards, they have set the bar very high,” said Dr. Mohamed H. Sayegh, vice president of Medical Affairs and the Raja N. Khuri, Dean, Faculty of Medicine. He added that ANCC accreditation gives nurses assurance that by choosing AUBMC, they will receive high-quality continuing nursing education.
This accreditation marks another milestone in AUBMC’s journey of maintaining its leadership position in the healthcare industry across patient care, education and research. The ANCC accreditation has been granted to AUBMC for four years, from May 18, 2015 to November 30, 2019.
AUBMC is the first and only medical institution in the Middle East to have earned the four international accreditations of JCI, Magnet (twice), CAP and ACGME-I attesting to its superior standards in patient-centered care, nursing, and pathology/laboratory services.
