Mamdouha El-Sayyed Bobst Breast Unit
About Us, Mission Statement, History
"All women should have access to fully equipped multidisciplinary and multiprofessional breast clinics at all stages, from screening through the care of advanced disease." - Florence, 1998.
The Mamdouha El Sayed Bobst Breast Unit (MSBBU) is the first breast unit in Lebanon and the Middle East dedicated to the comprehensive assessment of breast complaints. It provides a primary imaging service that offers both screening and diagnostic evaluation of breast diseases in a state-of-the-art environment using the latest techniques. It also allows women with breast symptoms to benefit from a triple assessment: clinical examination, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
All this is done in a professional, private, and comfortable environment. Our aim is to have the diagnostic workup completed within 24 hours in order to alleviate patients’ worries.
Patients are taken care of by a multidisciplinary clinical team working within internationally established clinical guidelines and protocols. The Unit will eventually be making a major commitment to research on the prevention of breast cancer, early diagnosis and new treatments.
The MSBBU's mission is to provide the highest quality of comprehensive services to any patient presenting a breast complaint, and allow evaluation of breast changes along with screening through diagnostic testing, education, and compassionate and attentive treatment.
The Mamdouha El Sayed Bobst Breast Unit is an integrated part of the Diagnostic Radiology Department at the American University of Beirut Medical Centre (AUBMC). It includes a state-of-the-art mammography, breast ultrasound and intervention suite, clinic examination room, and a conference room for patient and family education.
