The Office of Clinical and Translational Research at the Faculty of Medicine (FM) and the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) held its Fourth Clinical Research Open House that covers much of the research performed across the medical center in areas related to human health. This year’s Open House, organized on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Issam Fares Lecture Hall and Saab Medical Library (SML) terrace, showcased more than 72 research studies in several fields including internal medicine, cardiology, clinical nutrition, nursing, and dermatology and witnessed the participation of the Medical Research Volunteer Program (MRVP) for the first time.

Dr. Elie Akl, Director of the Clinical Research Institute, introduced the Clinical Research Institute (CRI) that comprises the Investigator Support Unit, Research Unit, Research Education Unit, Outcomes Research Unit, and Biostatistics Unit. The CRI has a mission to support clinical research at AUBMC.

The program, first implemented at the Department of Internal Medicine (IM) in 2011/2012, requires all residents and fellows to participate in a research project.
The open house participants were able to share their clinical research achievements and familiarize themselves with the available resources to support them. The event featured a display of poster presentations of ongoing clinical research at AUBMC, presentations of selected research projects conducted by the graduating residents of FRRP, and an award ceremony for the graduating residents who participated in the Fellow and Resident Research Program (FRRP).
