September 15, 2014--Members of the Bizri family joined AUB President Peter
Dorman, VP/Dean Mohamed Sayegh, and senior staff from AUB and AUBMC on
September 5, 2014 to sign the agreement to name the Ahmad and Jamila Bizri
Neuroscience Outpatient Center. President Peter Dorman thanked the Bizri
family for their generous gift and for being the “quintessential legacy family,
as across two generations, 5 of Ahmad and Jamila’s children and 9 of their
grandchildren attended AUB and AUBMC.” VP/ Dean Mohamed H. Sayegh
reiterated his thanks to the Bizri family for the unwavering support and added
that, “It is only with the support of generous donations like the one you have
graciously given to AUBMC that we can meet our goal and attain our AUBMC 2020
Vision.”
On behalf of the
family, Mr. Wajih Bizri said, “We have the utmost respect and appreciation for
the hospital and its medical team for the excellent care provided to our family
throughout the years. We are confident that this extraordinary institution will
continue to make major contributions to the healthcare sector in the years to
come. So it felt right that a legacy in our parents’ memory be made here.
We are proud to have the Neuroscience Outpatient Center carry the names
of Ahmad and Jamila Bizri.”
A state-of-the-art
first comprehensive multidisciplinary center, the Ahmad and Jamila Bizri
Neuroscience Outpatient Center, consolidates all of AUBMC’s neurology and neurosurgery
services. The center, located at the Pierre Y. Abou Khater (Fahed)
Building, comprises three floors – two for clinics and one for a diagnostic
neurophysiology lab. The center also consists of sub-specialized clinics
including the well-established Epilepsy Program. The Ahmad and Jamila Bizri
Neuroscience Outpatient Center will also be home to a Movement Disorders
Program, which addresses diseases of balance, motor coordination, and tremor
such as Parkinson’s disease and dystonia.
