Introduction
The CCRP Program, housed within the Abu-Haidar Neuroscience Institute (AHNI) at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), provides unique services in cognitive rehabilitation for persons aged 12 or older with various central nervous system disorders. This program would benefit a wide range of patients with cognitive difficulties or impairment.
Difficulties with cognitive functioning (such as poor concentration or memory) are often the most disabling symptoms for people with traumatic brain injury, stroke, or other types of neuropsychiatric illnesses. Cognitive rehabilitation has demonstrated its effectiveness for improving occupational functioning, psychosocial adjustment, and overall life satisfaction after a neurologic injury.
Our program is comprehensive and provides a full range of therapeutic services (Ex: individualized cognitive rehabilitation computer-based cognitive stimulation, psychotherapy, speech therapy) to patients with a variety of acquired or neurodegenerative disorders at all stages of recovery. Helping people regain their independence and an active role at home and in the community, including assistance with returning to work, is a primary focus of the program.
