Dr. Olivia Shabb joined the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) as an Instructor of Clinical Psychiatry (Specialty: Adult Clinical Psychology) at tAUBMC effective July 1st, 2018.
Dr. Shabb is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She holds a Psy.D. from PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium at Palo Alto University, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at New York University’s Counseling and Wellness Services. She holds additional certifications in sex education and sexual assault crisis response.
Prior to joining AUBMC, Dr. Shabb worked in multiple settings including private practice, Veterans’ Affairs hospitals, community mental health, inpatient and intensive outpatient programs, and college mental health. She has also acted as a consultant for programmatic and curricular development in several of these settings.
Dr. Shabb’s clinical experience encompasses a broad variety of populations and presentations. Areas of specialized training and interest include trauma, bereavement, emotion regulation, women’s health, and LGBTQ health. She has extensive experience in individual, couples, and group therapy as well as family consultation.
As a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Shabb will be providing psychotherapy services for adults. She will also be involved in teaching and supervision of Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology trainees and will contribute to the scholarly work of the Department of Psychiatry.
